Dear viewers, have you ever wondered why during the last month, there has not been a single video clip of the official world cup 2010 song on our national station? Well this is because the guys on the censorship board and those on the national station have censored Shakira’s waka waka dance. In the next 24 hours the world cup would have officially ended and not a single image have been broadcast on the airwaves, which by the way, we ti dimoune are paying rs 100 monthly. And we aspire to compete internationally, attract 2million tourists (yearly??) with this narrow mindset attitude? Gimme a break. When a colleague sends me a copy of Shakira’s clip, i could not help wondering whether the national station has broadcast it. No, there has not been a single video broadcast. It was through the internet network community that i discovered the clip. I heard the song but the clip was discovered through the net. Waka waka!!!

“Paradi en dey” suffered the same fate. The documentary is about the situation of drugs in our island, and here again, there has been police arrest because the film has not been approved to be broadcast. Even after a small private viewing, the film director, Jameel Peerally and Ally Azeer have been arrested and interrogated by the CCID. More info on this arbitrary arrest here.

UPDATE: Saw the waka waka clip today on channel 3 (i think) before the soap begins. Hopefully there will be more of it.

I got a sudden craze lately. After a friend gave me a cd containing Taiwanese drama, i suddenly became addicted to that kind of series. My first Taiwanese drama was romantic princess (Gong Zhu Xiao Mei).

Its the story about a girl who was kidnapped when she was little and adopted by a poor family. Later on her grandfather who happens to be the richest man in Asia eventually found her and Xiao Mei is suddenly propelled in a new environment, where envy, lust, love and romance co exist. I found it rather entertaining spiced with some humourous scenes. The male leads are Wu Zun ( a famous model and singer in Asia) while Angela Zhang features as the female leads. So if you like soaps and romance, then i will advise to go for it. Taiwanese dramas are at par with Western ones, quality wise and suspense but with lots of humour and hilarious scenes. The drama was aired in 2007, so am quite behind. Better late than never. So did you watch any good Taiwanese dramas lately?

Dr House returns on local channel!! Yip yip hurrah! Season 6 of 24 ended last week to be replaced by Season 5 of Dr House. Dr Wilson resigned after the death of Amber and Dr House used all means to convince him to stay to no avail. This Monday saw two episodes of the series. Will that recur the week after, time will know. So sit back, relax and enjoy the 45 minute series. As always the arrogant, never like to lose protagonist will always diagnose the sickness and leave you baba… Treatment provided explaining the cause and symptoms. Hats to the team of script writers, who will always deliver to us never heard diseases, their diagnosis and treatment.

It has long been said and confirmed. Mauritian drivers lack courtesy. Today like any other drivers we were jammed at the level of Pailles in the direction of Port Louis. I was in the fast lane and at some point in time, we had to converge towards the slow lane. So when the lane ends, i turned on the left flasher. A driver in ithe slow lane apparently furious that i was intending to be take his lead horned me and shouted like hell ” to presser???” I politely replied that my lane has ended and had to go in the other. He was obviously overexcited and reshouted ” to plis presser toi?” I let him take the lead and to prove to me that he is the boss, he deliberately drove slower. We are all tired after a week’s work and the jam further adds to the stress. So why are you so jerky? I think i was not alone to face the situation. Some drivers at the front too horned apparently for the same reason.

On another note, bonne fete du travail a tous! TGIPH!

Security is important. There’s no doubt about it, whether for personal security, overseas travel. Each and everyone of us needs to feel secure especially in one’s home. There are a number of companies specialising in such areas. Each has its own area of expertise. However, i could not not help but noticing that whether it be commercial or residential buildings, there is one thing in common-the alarm sound. Have you ever noticed that increasingly when the alarm goes on, it can make you deaf??? I mean, it’s good that the neighbourhood knows about may be there is something wrong in your building, and that appropriate actions can be taken, or it can act as a deterrent for the intruder if any, but for god’s sake, why the decibel so loud??? I am talking out of experience. My neighbour has installed an alarm system. Oh dear, when it goes on, you would wish you were deaf.. I am not joking…

(image at cowsarejustfood.wordpress.com)

Is there a norm for such devices? Why does it have to be so loud? Silent alarms do exist, so why not propose such systems as alternatives? Are they so much expensive that the majority of us opt for the conventional ones? We are talking about an ile maurice durable, serenity at home englobes such aspect.

(image at blog.kir.com)

So please security companies, do phase out such systems or at least diminish the decibels for our ears’ drums sake and for our children and grand grand children. We have only one pair of ears and it’s for our entire lifetime.

Greetings everyone! So how was your weekend? Many of us must have enjoyed their long weekend especially those who do not work on Saturdays. Some companies even decided to resume work on Wednesday given Tuesday is a public holiday. I think schools as well are given a day off (mid term?). Well guess what?? My boss and his wife did the same today. They made a bridge (fer pont in creole). So while asses are working, Mr and Mrs are sunbathing in a nice little resort. And what really sucks is Mrs phoned to enquire whether any employee has fer pont… Comme koi l’exemple vient d’en haut… No holidays in the coming month. So will begin the long desert walk. Must feed on water and air.
