Olympics
by kinkydodoI just watched the olympics on youtube and it left me breathless.
No-one will ever outperform what they did in the opening ceremony in Beijing. Its fabulous, the fireworks astonishing and the performce is well over the top. China is so rich in culture, spanning over 5000 years and one of the oldest and richest of the ancient civilizations that still exist today. China survived the invasions of the Mongols in the 12-13th century, the invasion of Japan during the second world war and nothing seemed to stop it from losing its prestigious culture.
The Egyption civilisation lies buried under the sand and its citizens fled. Same fate for the babylonians and the Mayas. However, chinese culture remains one of the last survivors of the ancient world. How incredible!
I just feel a sense of pride
