Climate Researchers use VR. WOW!
by ShahVirtual reality technology is being used by climate researchers to reveal what it is like in the eye of a typhoon.
The BBC’s Environment Analyst Roger Harrabin has been trying out the system at the science institute JAMSTEC in Yokohama.
Watch the video:

Fantastic! JAMSTEC is impressive for an agency dedicated to marine-earth science and tech. And VR helps!

Our research is oriented towards Virtual Humans in Virtual Worlds. We model body and face surfaces, then motion is generated based on physical laws, A.I. and behavioral laws. We develop models for walking, grasping, motion synchronization, collision detection and perception. We also work on more complex models based on muscular mechanics for medical applications. We develop techniques of Virtual Reality and real-time interaction to allow the immersion of the user in these virtual worlds. We are also investigating the areas of gesture-based commands, interactive physical deformations, and shared Virtual Environments.
Too bad I’d never been much into multimedia and stuff. Blargh, there’s still time to learn though..hmm..*reminding myself of that movie with Silverster Stallone and Sandra Bullock! Yes, Demolition Man! - the two were trying to have sex through VR. WLOL*
