WTC! WHERE IS MY TASER?! WHAT THE FRAK DO NON-GEEKY PEOPLE TALK ABOUT?
by ShahWTC! (What The Cupcake!) Gosh, I need a good pink taser to tase some folks! I can’t divulge names of the people I’m referring to. However, I can reveal the following: “They are awfully n00bish! And totally out of sync. with the geeks’ or even bloggers’ way of thinking.”
I spent like 5 hours with some frakin’ male n00bs whose topics of conversation were:
- Football (gosh, I’m no football fan. Still, I can tolerate foot convo’s.
- Women and sex (this is so wrong. what happened to respect for the ladies?! what happened to restricted access rights involving handshaking between 2 non-related/non-bonded entities?!)
- The art of swearing (WTC! *phew*)
- Computer spare parts (usually, I’d have liked a decent convo. but that one was not about the tech. part but rather the brand. E.g - nobody cares much about drivers or platform onto which a graphics card would be used, but rather on mere features like the amount of memory. WTC!)
- The hatred for programming/hours spent coding. (WTC! It’s what defines part of my field. How can one classify oneself as a Computer Scientist if one hates the field?! WTC!)
- The perks of MS. Windows XP and the need for avg. (WTC! so, nobody ever considered *nix! and what’s with the crave for AVG?! Isn’t it the same antivirus which caused havoc very recently?)
- Indian movies (sorry folks, i’m a sci-fi fan! and i do watch dramas and stuff - korean and chinese mainly. so, the whole Bollywood thing is a NO GO ZONE!)
- How MS. AJAX Control Toolkit rules and how javascript is dead (yeah, you read it right! I heard someone praising the AJAX Control Toolkit while dissing javascript. I so wanted that dude to be tased and thrown in pit full of hungry zombies!!!)
- How MS. SQL Server was weird and it was pronounced “S” “Q” “L” instead of “see-qual.”
- How blogging and twittering sucks! (apparently it does ‘coz they don’t need these! WTC!)
- Price of phone calls but NO MENTION OF THE NEW IPHONE 3G RELEASE! WTC!
I can’t connect with such people. I do know that we are all different. I get that. I also understand that many are not in the same field as I am, and many won’t even talk about new releases from Apple or updates of Carbide. Take the online world for e.g, there are many bloggers who blog about different things which though I may not be interested into, are being read by me because I learn new stuff in a cool way without the bad language. Maybe I’m more tolerant online due to the bond I share with certain people - it’s stronger than the one in real life. Real life sucks. It’s better to be a social pariah in real life till I encounter sincere and dear people with whom I can relate to, and share not just knowledge but learn and experience something new together. At least, the people who matter most to me are 1 keyboard away 
I’m off to look @ some interesting car mods from the Jeddah Boys.
