Creole? Culture Clash Convo!
by ShahGood afternoon peeps
Read the following to understand the title (which is kinda weird/limit vague wlol.)
The term “Creole” was originally applied to people born in the colonies to distinguish them from the upper-class European-born immigrants. Originally, therefore, “Creole language” meant the speech of those Creole peoples. Source: Wikipedia
Some fan boys of culture want to have the language become the primary language of Mauritius. The Mauritian Creole is a mixture of English and French words, with some Asian words which found their way into that lot.
IMHO, Creole is a spoken language - a means of communication. There are no grammatical rules, whatsoever. And, WTC (What The Cupcake?!) @ the idea of it replacing English?!
Approximately 375 million people speak English as their first language. English today is probably the third largest language by number of native speakers, after Mandarin Chinese and Spanish. Source: Wikipedia
So, WTC @ Creole being the primary language of a developing country?! WLOL. It makes no sense to me, and a shift to Creole from English will have disastrous effects on the economy (upgrading all these systems to abide to Creole language standards will take time and require massive investments.) And I don’t see myself coding in Creole anytime soon.
//faire tabe “dimounes”
$dimounes = “FAIRE TABE dimounes (
dimounes_id int(11) PAS NULE auto_augmentation,
dimounes_sonom varchar(255) PAS NULE,
Primaire lacle (dimounes_id)
)”;
Revamping programming language to match Creole is wrong! I know it won’t happen but still - it’s worth mentioning. Front end management in Creole - well, that’s ok but definitely not within my field. I’ll leave that to some designer and translator
So, back to me causing a culture clash. Check out the following conversation.
Culture Fanboy: Hello. I heard you wanted to deliver a lecture about Creole. It’s nice. I’ve gathered some people to listen to you. Creole rulz!!!
Me: Oh yes. It’s an honour to talk about it in front of so many.
Culture Fanboy: Go on then.
Me: *cough* Creole is fantastic! It is a DAL for PHP5. As you know, the DAL is the database abstraction layer and provides a means for accessing a database from within a php script or page. So, Creole is..
Culture Fanboy: WTF?!
Me: Mind your language. It’s WTC! (What The Cupcake?!)
Culture Fanboy: What are you talking about? I thought it was about Creole.
Me: Sure, it is. I’m here to talk about the Creole Project! Not the crappy language. If you want to promote the language, talk to people using your tongue. The language doesn’t need a syntax! It’s just spoken using different accent and keeps on evolving with new words and expression. Go learn Mandarin! I love Mandarin BTW - it helps me woo the cute chinese girls better! Ha!
Culture Fanboy: Blasphemy!!!
Me: Whatever! @ least, I’m not asking you to learn binary! WLOL
I thought the above would be a good way to let you know about The Creole Project.
Creole provides the following distinguishing features:
- Built for PHP5: new object model, Exceptions
- Interface-based system allows easy creation & registering of custom drivers or classes that wrap existing drivers to provide additional functionality (e.g. to log queries for debugging, do query performance analysis using EXPLAIN, etc.).
- Fully object-oriented API
- ResultSet scrolling: next, previous, first, last, relative, and absolute row fetching.
- ResultSetIterator (SPL) provides an additional means for iterating over recordsets.
- Comprehensive database metadata (database, table, full column info, pimary keys, foreign keys, indexes) using simple OO API.
- Full unified type system (based on JDBC Types)
- Simple, un-exceptional OO API for handling BLOB and CLOB data.
- Type-specific methods handle any necessary conversions and escaping for inserting and retrieving values.
- Native (no emulation) handling of autoincrement / sequence id generation.
- Extensive unit test framework tests each driver using real databases.
Brute Force Technobabbling is a great way to PWN morons.
Anyway, I’m supposed to be working instead of blogging WLOL. OMG, it’s nearly 14:00. Have a good remainder of the day.
Since I’m a huge fan of Billi Piper (too bad, she stopped singing,) I leave you with the following (will be back later tonight to blog about something else wlol:)
