Wrong Choice of Flag, IMHO
by adminSorry Iraqi folks, but the new flag is not good at all.
Check out the previous flag:

The 3 stars and “Allahu Akbar” (God is Great) in green were meaningful. Green represents Islam. The stars represented the motto of Sadam Hussein’s party, The Ba’ath party. They meant Wahda, Hurriyah, Ishtirakiyah (Unity, Freedom, Socialism.)
The ole’ saying is that the words on the flag had been written by Saddam’s own hand.
Check out the current flag:

God is Great. It’s a fact. The text is now dark green. Wow! Am I the only one who perceived the colour as black at first sight? I had to use a colour picker to compare it to #000000 (black.)
So, now Iraq isn’t about unity, freedom or even socialism. Granted, socialism is being replaced by democracy (as if social democracy could never show up again) and that Sadam is dead. However, there is nothing wrong with “unity” and “freedom.”
Dear readers, do you believe the Iraqis are one, and free?
The previous flag could have been kept as a reminder of the number of deaths post-Saddam’s rule. Also, a new meaning for the stars could have been given, even though ‘unity’ and ‘freedom’ were not good enough.
If I had the power to change the flag right now, I’d go for the following:
Apparently, the Kurds like yellow suns, so.
On September 14th 2007, the ORB survey had published estimates of the total war casualties in Iraq since the US invasion. The figures were astonishing – over 1.2 million deaths - 1,220,580
