Focusing On New Areas, Reduce Stress, MySQL & Sun

by admin

I’ve decided to change the focus of the blog. The latter will be a soup of almost everything, metaphorically speaking.

Why, one might wonder? Well, below are the reasons:

  • To get more hits;
  • It’s hard for someone to grasp the techniques of one unless one provides tutorials. I shall keep on posting tutorials on some new techniques over a vast variety of languages I’m currently experimenting on. One of my hobbies is to develop a solid Ruby on Rails applications. It is time consuming but it’s worth it. Expect the entire project to be open sourced, along with the documentation by December 2007;
  • I’m tired of staring at Nano, Zend and VS.NET all day. A change to a word processing window to type my posts is always welcome. No need to keep the ‘others’ open while I type LOL;
  • I’m working on several projects and I abide to the principles of non-disclosure. Hence, some techniques used cannot be revealed - @ least without re-writing new examples. I cannot give away codes from projects falling in the “non-hobby category.”

Hence, the subtitle has been changed to “a geek’s soup.” I’d have gone to “diary of a wacko geek” but it’s too cliché and reminds me of the TV show – “Secret Diary of a Call Girl.”

And yes, I am wacko!

Hence, as part of the change in subtitle and areas to be covered, this post also includes the following about “reducing stress by walking barefoot onto rocks.”

walking

It is self applied reflexology whereby reflex points of the feet connect to all parts of the body. The massage at those points simulates the body and assist in circulation. I definitely need to try that some day. I’ve no idea where to find a path of jagged stones in Mauritius, though. Can someone please suggest some places where I can find such walking path? Thank you.

News: Sun aquires MySQL

This intrigues me. Sun supports PostgreSQL and Oracle in Solaris. I wonder if it is an act of retaliation for Oracle did buy InnoDB and BerkeleyDB. Still, the choice of the DB is now becoming complicated. It’s all due to licensing and support on platforms which may cause maintenance issues in the long run. However, Sun is open source friendly and my fellow developer friends and I should not be worried.

Now, I’ve to work on the MBB theme of the week post.

And so, the post ends. Now, I’ve to work on the MBB theme of the week post.
