N95 and IPhone Review

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

I get the feeling that the iPhone is like most other Apple products; Elitist to the core, overly easy-to-use, and lacking in features that have become standard or trend but nevertheless Apple feels they don’t need. I guess also that I’m a bit biased, as I own an N95, and it has it’s bad points, [...]

Project 3X update

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

P3X is my code name for a homebuilt airplane project. It can fly three times faster than a car and without getting a speed ticket. I am still studying and researching my options in building an airplane. Before starting the project, I must know that I can finish it and in how many hours. [...]

Learning by experimenting (with Scheme)

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

In his beautiful essay, The Art of Lisp & Writing, Richard Gabriel makes a strong case for the use of programming mediums instead of programming languages when either introducing programming to students or starting a new project.
He says:
“The difference between Lisp and Java, as Paul Graham has pointed out, is that Lisp is for working [...]

second one, still ok,
third one, becoming to be annoying
but with the Mauritius Meteorogical Services, its so obvious that each and every forecast they do, [...]

Wednesday, January 30th, 2008

I just read an old article on the website Servihoo where the local national broadcasting station, the MBC, is pushing for the switch to digital TV.
À partir de 2009, tous les foyers mauriciens devront avoir un décodeur pour capter la Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) en numérique. “Les Mauriciens devront obligatoirement avoir un décodeur pour capter [...]

Gula makes its move

Wednesday, January 30th, 2008

I don’t want Gula (cyclone) to hit the country. Sure, there would be rain leading to reservoirs getting filled. However, development for several projects will be stopped temporarily. It does sound selfish on my part to want Gula to stay away. I believe that the want for Gula to hit the island is merely subjective.
Oh [...]
