Yes! The MES did it again! Again, this year, there are some problems with the MES (Mauritius Examinations Syndicate), last year it was with the A-level G.P Paper ( global problem General Paper) with the students of Royal College of Curepipe, whereby the scripts were wrongly corrected and marked.
But it seems that the MES have not learned from its past mistakes. This year, the problem is with the S.C French paper1. Having obtained his results, a student have some doubt that his paper was wrongly corrected and marked, so he decided to make his paper corrected again. It is only then, that the MES noticed that 234 French papers were wrongly marked. Yes, 234 papers and only 5 pupils make gave their papers for re-correction!!!
How did this happen?
Having corrected the papers, Cambridge, noticed that some students grades (whether they pass of fail) depended on only 1 or 2 marks, therefore, Cambridge decided to send 2200 papers to the MES for re-correction ( god knows why). 400 of these papers were already examined by Cambridge and therefore the MES had to concentrate on only 1800 papers. As the correction was finished, the papers were passed to the data section of the MES who is responsible to transmit the marks to Cambridge.
But guess what? These fools wrongly copied the marks on floppy disks, instead of 2200 marks; the file had only 470 marks which were given to Cambridge. Therefore, 234 re-corrected papers whose marks were increased were not copied on the floppy disk!!
So, Cambridge issued the S.C results from his old database and 234 papers were wrongly marked!
Just Imagine?
Just imagine 234 wrongly marked papers and only 5 students complained! Just imagine what could have happened in the past when students did not complained! Better not imagine!
Floppy disk?
Mmmmmmm seems a bit funny! When the Minister of technology, Mr. Etienne Sinatambou repeats and repeats the word Cyber Island, the organizations of the government are still using floppy disk!! Even I don
